Mute Swan Cygnus olor
Identification: Orange-red bill. Juveniles have a pink bill with a dark edge to the base of the bill. Long, slightly S-shaped neck when swimming.
Information: Distribution: common resident throughout the British Isles. All swans in Britain are likely to be this species unless you are at one of a few site where wintering Bewick's and Whooper's occur.
Similar species: Whooper Swan, Bewick's Swan.
