Minke Whale Balaenoptera acutorostrata
 
Identification: Dark grey/black with sickle shaped fin set 2/3 back on body. Inconspicuous vertical blow.
Information: Distribution: regular on Irish and Scottish coasts, can occur more widely. Can be seen during the summer in the Hebrides.
Similar species: Several species of whales can rarely be seen in British waters.
