Downy Emerald Cordulia aenea
 
Identification: Green eyes. Males have metallic golden-green thorax and abdomen. Females are more uniformly green.
Information: Distribution: core population in southern England, scattered sites north all the way to Invernessshire.
Similar species: Brilliant Emerald is difficult to separate as is Northern Emerald that occurs in northern Scotland.
