Arctic Tern Sterna paradisaea
 
Identification: Blood-red bill, short-red legs. Short neck, head and bill. In flight diffuse grey breast, with a pale band below the black cap. Transleucent band through all flight feathers from below.
Information: Distribution: summer visitor, common near breeding colonies scattered around the British Isles. Regular on migration in southern Britain.
Similar species: Common Tern: slightly larger, with wings set further back than this species.
